Charlois Pastoral Reflection

Luke 14:28 NLT  “Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won’t you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it?

Planning, the Bible clearly speaks of it throughout scriptures.  Yet, people are quick to point out that it also speaks about letting tomorrow take care of itself.  Isn’t this a contradiction?  I don’t think so.

There is nothing wrong with having a good plan in place, in fact it is essential for some situations.  The problem is, when people rely too much on their plan.  When we think that the plan settles everything, and we start fretting when things don’t go as expected, it is then that we get into trouble.

In the ideal situation we gather as much information as possible and set up our plan based on that.  The next step to take is, do your best in the execution of the plan.  Finally, once we have done everything in our power, then we turn the outcome over to God.

Just remember, when you ask God to move mountains don’t be surprised when He hands you a shovel.  Sometimes we rely too much on God’s intervention when we are capable of a lot on our own.

In other words, make a plan, do your best to carry it out, and trust God.

Words from a pastor.

God’s blessings on us all.
